a new name….coming soon

As it turns out, my research was not as thorough as I thought and there is another delish! So, moving on. I will be back soon with a new name and new url.  In the meantime, visit the original and well done delish here.

environmental design + emerystudio

emery1

I’m not even sure how to define environmental design. I was thrilled when I opened the latest issue of Communication Arts and saw a big article (with lots of gorgeous pictures, of course) of some fantastic environmental design. I’m not talking about environmentally friendly design. I’m talking about the combination of graphic design, interior design, architecture, installation art, and landscape design into THE coolest field out there. Up top, work from emerystudio in Melbourne. Up above is the Seven Yarra marketing suite.

Above, the Australian Racing Museum. Isn’t that 88 great?

emerynativity

Above, temporary street decorations for the City of Melbourne’s 2006/2007 holiday season. The lettering was digitized and cut from sheet metal, fixed to a stainless steel frame, and backlit from below.

Chuck Palahniuk cover

Another great Chuck Palahniuk book cover (left). This one is for the book Rant, and it was done by Jacob Magraw-Mickelson which makes it even greater. Cause what’s not to like about Jacob Magraw?

Tsang Kin-Wah uses profane text to paint floral patterns. As you can see above, the patterns often cover entire rooms.

ayako maruta

Architect and interior designer Ayako Maruta did the interior of the Dairy Fresh store in Tokyo. The pieces of the display wall are magnets made of steel and have hooks to hang items for sale and can be rearranged to create different patterns.
